THE JILL TODD PHOTOGRAPHIC AWARD
Organised by the Jill Todd Trust and an Edinburgh-based Advisory Team, the Jill Todd Photographic Award is an annual event which was established in loving memory of Jill Todd who, at the age of 23 and one year after graduating in 2009 from Edinburgh Napier University with a 1st Class Hons. degree in Photography and Film, tragically had her young, talented and personable life taken by cancer.
The overarching aim of the award is to encourage the making of new work after graduation, thereby enabling the Promotion of Early Careers in Photography.
Winners receive £2,000 in prize money and, along with commended entrants, an exhibition of their work in a prominent gallery from which they benefit from high-profile exposure.
Prizes extend to include: having all exhibited work printed and framed; a lecture in photography by an eminent photographer and a masterclass in photography given by the same lecturer.
All of these events immediately precede the date of the Prize Giving and Private Viewing and the exhibiting gallery.
