Since in inception in 2011 the Jill Todd Trust has worked for and with the Friends of the Cancer Centre to raise funds to assist in the internationally acclaimed research programme carried out in the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology at Belfast City Hospital. The reasons that the trustees of the Jill Todd Trust selected the Friends of the Cancer Centre to be the Trust's chosen charity are as follows:
"Friends” raise funds solely for Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology at Belfast City Hospital thereby providing assurance regarding the deployment of donations.
The "Friends" team are effective, totally dedicated, and focused.
"Friends" represent an economically-compact unit which, with their offices being accommodated in the Cancer Centre premises, thereby generate substantially less overhead costs than other similar charities.
These generated efficiencies ensure that a maximum of funds raised goes directly to the local cancer research programme.
Through the organisation of many fund-raising events over the past five years, of which 'ask an architect' is the latest - the Jill Todd Trust has raised c. £46,000 for the Friends of the Cancer Centre.
